Alabama Beaches
On the Gulf of Mexico

Alabama Beaches are scattered trough a short coastline of about 100 km of the Gulf of Mexico. Also called the Yellowhammer state because of the state bird, Alabama attracts over 20 million tourists a year, mostly seeking the marvelous beaches. Alabama is located between the States of Florida and Mississippi.

It is considered one of Alabama’s top beaches and is located between Fort Morgan peninsula and Mobile Bay. The sugary sand beach is mostly open to the public, although the shoreline shows many residential homes.

There are some luxury hotels and many restaurants along the coastline. Besides the beach you may want to visit nearby Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge which is a great attraction for wildlife enthusiasts, a refuge to sea turtles, the Alabama beach mouse, and various migrating birds.

It is part of Gulf State park with a 2-mile-long gorgeous beach. It features shaded picnic areas and public restrooms.

Surf fishing is a popular sport here. You can also spend quality time exploring the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail on bike or foot, while you spot alligators and deer that are some of the wild animals that are easily spotted in the area.

The nearby Gulf Adventure Centre offers paddle-boarding, zip lining, and kayaking.

Dauphin Island

Located in Mobile County it offers amazing landscapes. It requires a nominal fee to enter the beach, only during spring and summer, and it is worth every cent.

Explore and enjoy, some of which are its parks, trails, and exhibits. The only pet-friendly beach in the region, Dauphin Island Park and Beach is open throughout the year and offers camping facilities for RVs, trailers, and even buses.

Fort Morgan

This long finger shaped peninsula offers not only pristine beaches, but is the perfect spot to get away from the crowd and close to nature and serenity.

Most of the peninsula is part of Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge, and the beach at Fort Morgan is accessible to the public.  It is better explored if you are staying in one of the area hotels.

Cotton Bayou Beach

Located within the boundaries of Gulf State, Cotton Bayou Beach is the perfect picture of an absolute beach holiday. Perfect white sands combined with rolling waves make the beach area highly popular among visitors.

It offers several public facilities and amenities which make the area very convenient for worry-free relaxation.

Here the visitor will find all everyone wants to find in a perfect beach. There are several beaches in the area, but the Main Public Beach ranks very highly among them all.

There are plenty of restaurants, shops, activities, and nightlife around the area.

Some of the featured facilities are showers, restrooms, lifeguards, free parking and open picnic pavilions.

West End Public Beach

Located on the western end of Dauphin Island, it has the laid-back ambiance as the rest of the beaches in the area, plus many facilities for the general public.

It is open seven days a week morning until evening, but it has strict policies against pets, littering and overnight stays.


It offers some of the best and picturesque views of Mobile bay. It also offers the best sunsets of the area.

Among the activities in the area are swimming, snorkeling and speed boating. But if you are looking for a quiet day at the beach, this also the ideal place for you.

It is considered a family friendly beach with many restaurants, boutiques and picnic areas.

Florida Point Beach

This is a mile-long beach on the city of Orange Beach, near the border with the State of Florida, east of Perdido Pass

It is considered a little out of location as compared to the prominent Cotton Bayou Beach which makes the former rather calm and less-crowded, a plus for those who want some privacy and peace.
