Cabo San Lucas Beaches is one of the most de desirable Beach destinations for North American. Nicknamed Cabo, it is located in the southern tip of the Mexican State of Baja California Sur Peninsula. Cabo San Lucas Mexico together with San Jose de del Cabo Mexico are called “Los Cabos Mexico”

One of the Top Mexican Beach Destinations

The whole Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo has become a booming beach destination with many resorts and time share condominiums.

It all started as a tuna fishing village at the beginning of the XX century and became so big from the tourism point of view that some call it “The Fort Lauderdale of Mexico”.  “El Arco de Cabo San Lucas is an undisputed landmark.

Almost parallel to the creation and development of Cancun on the Mayan Riviera, the Mexican Government developed this area and the necessary infrastructure of roads like the Tran peninsular Federal Highway # 1.

During the winter months you may be able to see pods of whales bearing their calves in the warm waters of the Sea of Cortes, the sea between mainland Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula, after they migrate from the cold of Siberia and Alaska.

Please remember that many beaches in the area have strong undertows and treacherous waves. Heed the warning signs “Stay Out – Stay Alive” and never swim alone even if the waters look calm

Cabo San Lucas Beaches

Following are a few of the top beaches on this area

  • Playa Solmar

    Located on the Pacific side of the peninsula, next to Finisterra Hotel, this beach has very rough waves and is therefore not safe for swimming but is great for whale watching and photographing. 

  • Playa Santa Maria

    This beach is actually a cove harboring reefs with incredible animal life and fish for the delight of snorkelers. It is a secluded beach during the week and has only few amenities. It is a great beach for swimming and sun tanning.  This beach, located on Km # 11.5 features pink sands.
  • Playa Acapulquito

    This is a surfer’s beach and a surf school is conveniently located on the premises. There is also a restaurant on this beach. Swimming is fine when the waters are calm.

  • Costa Azul

    This beach is close to San Jose del Cabo. It is also popular among surfers. There is a surfer’s school and a restaurant besides a convenience store. Located at Km # 29 off the main highway this is a beach for surfers or those that like to watch them.
  • El Estero

    This beach is different from others because it has some lush vegetation. The San Jose Estuary ends at the beach just east of the Intercontinental Presidente Hotel in San Jose del Cabo. This beach is also ideal for bird watching.

  • Lover's Beach

    This beach can only be reached by boat or water taxi from Bahia de Medano Beach. It is one of Cabo’s nicest beaches and features an abundance of marine life and fish for the delight of scuba divers and snorkelers. Bring your own towel and food since there are only few amenities. The beach has been photographed thousands of times for its amazing beauty.
  • Chileno Beach

    This is a complete beach with all amenities you may need. It is located in the corridor between the two cities. It is great for snorkeling and swimming.  Located on Km # 14 this is also a family beach packed during weekends. So, if you have the time, you should visit it on weekdays.

  • Medano Beach

    This 3 km beach is by far the most renowned one of Cabo San Lucas Beaches. Many hotels and resorts line this gorgeous beach as well as many restaurants and bars. This is the beach you want to be for all the action. There are water sports and many activities and many vendors offering souvenirs. It is the safest swimming beach in Los Cabos.
  • Estuary beach

    This beach is rather good for bird watching where you may find some cranes, egrets, ibis and Osprey.  It is located at the end of the row of hotels of San Jose del Cabo. It is recommended not to swim on this beach because the strong undertow.

  • Tequila Cove

    Also known as Playa Bledito is on the premises of Melia Cabo Real and the Hilton Hotels. It features a man made breakwater making the beach very safe for swimming the practice of water sports and sun tanning.
  • Playa Hotelera

    This beach is great for many things but swimming. Fishing here is good, horseback riding and beach volley ball are also available. The proximity of rainforests makes it ideal for nature lovers. The beach is located behind the hotel row of San Jose del Cabo.

  • Punta Palmilla Beach

    This is a wide and long open bay, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Besides the palapas, there are no other amenities. Families enjoy here the natural beauty on a safe setting. It is located on Km # 27 of the main highway.

  • Playa Barco Verado

    Located on  Km # 9 of the main road, this is a safe beach for swimming and just relaxing. It is also great for scuba diving on the abundance of marine life. Although swimming is safe, it is recommended to stay out of the water when the waves are rough.
  • Playa las Viudas or Widows Beach

    This is the beach for those seeking seclusion and maybe a romantic escape. It features many coves around rock formations offering many secluded spots. Swimming is safe on this beach located at Km # 11 of the main road.

Cabo San Lucas Beaches are great for Honeymoons, romantic getaways and family vacations. Especially for those on the west coast of USA it is very near.
