The Best in Southern Cyprus

Paphos Beaches are scattered over more than 50 Km of coast in the south of the Island of Cyprus. All the beaches are amazingly beautiful; many are covered by hotels offering all services on the beach.

They are ideal for swimming and sun bathing as well as Cyprus Diving and snorkeling among the abundant marine life off the shores.

Paphos, a coastal city located about 50Km west of Limassol, the largest port of the island. It also features the country’s second largest international airport.

Being the mythical birthplace of Goddess Aphrodite, it was the country’s capital during the Greco-Roman times and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Due to its location it enjoys the best weather of the island with a subtropical-Mediterranean climate.

  • Coral Bay

A very popular one of the Cyprus Beaches, this is also one of the most beautiful. Its fine white sands and the crystal clear waters invite visitors for swimming, diving and many other water sports.

Many important beach hotels are located on this beach, besides many restaurants and tavernas where you can eat and drink your favorite wine while watching the glimmering of the waters in the evening.

This is the best beach in southern Cyprus and the relaxation it offers is unsurpassed by any other of the local beaches.

Agios Georgios

Agios Georgios is a small beach at the base of sharp cliffs. The large harbor protects the beach from the rough sea.

The Agios Georgios chapel is situated on the cliffs near the beach.

Lara Bay

Also known as Turtle Beach it is located north of Paphos in the Akamas Peninsula. It is a sanctuary to protect the green and loggerhead turtles.

One can also spot another endangered species of the monk seal.

Latchi Beach

This is fishing village, quiet and away from the crowded city. It is ideal for swimming, diving and snorkeling. There are a few tavernas and cafes specializing in seafood.

The whole area for those fans of photography.

Vrysoudia Beach

This is another beach in the area of Kato Paphos, where many of the hotels are located.

It is part of the beaches taken care of by the Paphos Municipality.

It is divided into A and B sections.

  • Pachyammos Beach

This is one of Paphos Beaches awarded the Blue Flag. It is a narrow beach not far from the city and therefore very popular with tourists. The beach is part of Paphos municipality and offers many facilities including those for handicapped people.

For those that dislike big crowds, this is the right place to be. You may enjoy the fresh fish offered in the various taverns. Here you may have a total beach experience including entertainment, good cuisine, refreshments and souvenir shops.

  • Geroskipou Beach

Located approximately 3 Km from Paphos harbor, this also a very popular beach. It has all kind of facilities like renting of sun beds, snacks and drinks and many games for the kids.

The shoreline is pebbled with clear waters. There is an area not so deep ideal for small children. Lifeguards are on duty between 10am and 5pm during the swimming season.

  • Petra tou Romiou

Being Aphrodite’s birthplace, where it is said she emerged from the sea, it a popular romantic spot. It is a magnificent beach surrounded by large rocks and gorgeous sands. It has been the inspiration of many poets and artists. The name means “Rock of the Greek”.

  • Pharos Beach

It is a mix of pebble and rock beach with a few patches of sand in between. It is located west of Paphos on the Tomb of King Road. It offers accommodation and many facilities for beach and water sports.

Enjoy this beach if you want to get far from big crowds on the beach or any of the restaurants and tavernas nearby.

  • Paphos Municipal Beaches

These small beaches are all located on the coast of Kato, the main tourist area in Paphos. Its location is so good that it is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Children enjoy this beach and adults enjoy not only the beaches but also the few taverns.
