South Carolina Beaches are really special for their variety, their location and the family friendly atmosphere. Together with North Carolina, Georgia and Florida Beaches they make large stretch with hundred of beaches on the Mid Atlantic region of the United States and serve all those inland states without access to a beach.

Myrtle Beach

This is by far the most renowned of the beaches in the area. It is the east coast’s great vacation destination. It is the largest of the beach resorts on the Atlantic with many sub-beaches along the coast. That is why it’s called “The Grand Strand”.

The opportunities here are endless such as swimming, sailing, surfing, sailing and plain sun tanning on a comfortable chair and a nearby umbrella.

There are amusement parks, water parks and live entertainment among the many restaurants and bars lining the front of the beaches.

As in the rest of the state, the weather is mild with moderate winters and hot summers always accompanied by a cooling breeze.

Hilton Head Island

It has been named as one of the top Family South Carolina Beaches in the country. The island is a mere 18 by 8 Km in size but features hundreds of restaurants, tens of golf courses and a couple of hundred stores and outlets.

The beaches of Hilton Head are public from the ocean to the high water mark, but access to some beaches is often private. The beach parks offer the facilities of showers, restrooms and vending.

Surfside Beach

This town is known as the “Family Beach”. Located 6 km south of Myrtle Beach, this 3 km long stretch of beach is full of beach houses, condominiums hotels and restaurants.

This beach city offers many vacation attractions like The Wild Water and Wheels Park, an amusement park with many slides and rides for everyone in the family.

Pawley's Island

This is the real laid back place in this state. The small island located halfway between Myrtle Beach and Charleston is known for its shoeless and shirtless carefree style.

It has great beaches on the Atlantic side and on the west you’ll find s salt marsh full of lobster, oysters, crab and flounder. It remains as one of the few wild non-commercial spots on the coasts of the United States.

Hunting Island

This is a 6 Km long island serving as a State Park and a beach visited by over 1 million people a year. The park is an oasis of serenity within nature and the beach are perfect for all kind of beach activities

The number one attraction is the Hunting Island Lighthouse. After being destroyed during the Civil War it was rebuilt in 1875, it is the only lighthouse in the state open to the public.

Hunting Island’s lagoon has an abundance of wildlife and fresh water fishing opportunities. You have also a fishing pier and nature trails.

Kiawah Island SC

This island offshore of the mainland offers 16 Km of open South Carolina beaches to the Atlantic Ocean. It offers every amenity a family or couple may ask from a beach.

It is located a short drive from Charleston S.C. a real southern city. The island offers amazing golf courses of which five are world renowned.

Most of the island is privately owned but Beachwalker Park is public and operated by Charleston County. Once on the island you enjoy much more than beautiful beaches, such as marsh lined creeks and waterways, tennis centers, straw market and more.

Isle of Palms

This is a cute hideaway with the family friendly Wild Dunes Resort that gives you access to the beach on the northern part of the island.

There are opportunities for tennis, golf and of course, swimming and sun tanning.

Folly Beach SC

Nestled between the Folly River and the Atlantic Ocean, this beach is just 15 minutes from Downtown Charleston.

People come here for fishing on the open ocean, swimming, surfing and all kinds of water sports.

Locals refer to this charming South Carolina beach town as the "Edge of America."  From the eastern tip of the island you may see the Morris Island Lighthouse .From here you may see the turtles nesting and the bald eagles soaring through the sky.

Folly Beach is famous as one of the top surfer’s spot in the United States.

Fripp Island

This barrier island is located about 30 Km of Beaufort. It features two of the highest ranking golf courses in the nation and the beaches are unspoiled and not crowded at all.

On this island you may deer running free, an occasional alligator roaming around aned more than 180 species of birds.

It is closer to Savannah in the neighboring state of Georgia than to Charleston in the same state.
